Flint Hills Therapeutic Riding Center

Flint Hills Therapeutic Riding Center strives to improve the quality of life for children and adults with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities through equine assisted activities and therapy. Our goal is to increase awareness of the benefits of these unique programs and extend equine assisted therapy services to a broader segment of the community.

Thanks to the support and hospitality of Aces High Acres and Kathy Warren, we have the use of a beautiful setting in which to operate. Aces High Acres includes both indoor and outdoor arenas, trails, stables, and pasture for our special herd of therapy horses. We are fortunate to share this wonderful facility with the Wichita Police Mounted Patrol and a few private boarders. A great big Thank-You to those have been so very accomodating to our program!!!

Hippotherapy
The term hippotherapy refers to the use of the movement of the horse as a treatment strategy by physical therapists, occupational therapists and
speech/language pathologists to address impairments, functional limitations and disabilities in patients with neuromotor and sensory dysfunction. This treatment strategy is used as part of an integrated treatment program to achieve functional goals.


Therapeutic Riding
Therapeutic riding uses equine-assisted activities for the purpose of contributing positively to cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of people with disabilities. Therapeutic riding provides benefits in the areas of therapy, education sport and recreation & leisure.
